Lyons Street Fest is an annual block party festival presented by the New Orleans Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8973 in the heart of Uptown at 531 Lyons Street. Held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 28, 2026, the event features live music, local food vendors, arts and crafts, and family friendly entertainment. Designed to foster connections among residents, veterans, and small businesses alike, Lyons Street Fest serves both community engagement and cultural celebration. The festival draws neighbors and visitors together, boosting visibility for local entrepreneurs, artisans, and veteran nonprofits.
About NOLA VFW Post 8973
As the only active VFW Post in Orleans Parish, Post 8973 is committed to ensuring that veterans are protected in return for their service. The Post provides a veteran resource guide, assists with filing VA claims, and hosts regular social and support events. Inclusivity is a core value of Post 8973, which welcomes veterans of every era, identity, and background. By sponsoring or contributing to Lyons Street Fest, donors help strengthen a cultural anchor in Uptown New Orleans and empower a veteran-serving institution with direct programming, outreach, and community impact. The Post is more than that for many of its members; it is a community that accepts and understands one another.
Over the past year, we have distinguished ourselves. When Hurricane Helene devastated North Carolina, we organized hundreds of pounds of emergency supplies sent north to those in need. Through diligent work with local, state, and nonprofit agencies, we guaranteed a homeless veteran a safe home of his own on his own property for the first time in over ten years after his situation left him lost between the cracks of bureaucracy. With the installation of our solar panels and generator, we’ve taken a critical step to becoming a community resource center in the event of a natural disaster, becoming a place all our neighbors can turn to in a time of need. While all this is going on, we never stop connecting veterans and their families with the resources they need, whether it’s help with rent, getting a job, or navigating the complicated VA benefits process.
This is the third year NOLA VFW Post 8973 has hosted Lyons Street Fest and last year’s event brought over 300 people together, and we anticipate a much larger turnout this year. We have different levels of sponsorship, so anyone can find what will work best for them. Payments can be made via check to NOLA VFW. Please include a memo that it is for Lyons Street Fest.
